Proverbs 21:2

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes,
but the Lord weighs the heart.

—Proverbs 21:2  
We think our "way" is what's important, but God thinks the heart is what's important.

Proverbs 21:29-31

A wicked man puts on a bold face,
but the upright gives thought to his ways.
No wisdom, no understanding, no counsel
can avail against the Lord.
The horse is made ready for the day of battle,
but the victory belongs to the Lord.

Although the righteous make their plans with much forethought, no plans can succeed if they are against the Lord. God is the one who brings success.

Proverbs 16:1-3

16:1 The plans of the heart belong to man,
but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.
All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes,
but the Lord weighs the spirit.
Commit your work to the Lord,
and your plans will be established.
